Sensitivity toothpaste

Developed at Queen Mary Uni, London. BioMin is an advanced sensitivity toothpaste that works to internally stop the cause of sensitive teeth. Most sensitivity toothpaste either try and numb the nerve or cover over the cause of sensitivity (exposed tubules). BioMin’s enters the exposed tubules and seals from within, delivering more complete seal[ii] , and a greater reduction in sensitivity[iii].

 What differentiates BioMin?

BioMin has a unique slow-release mechanism which deliver essential minerals over a period of up to 12 hours to protect and repair the tooth’s enamel. Regular toothpaste loses its therapeutic fluoride benefits in about 90 mins. Also, BioMin’s particles are small enough to enter open tubules to help seal the tooth and provide relief from sensitive teeth.

How does BioMin Work?

BioMin forms a coating on the tooth’s enamel. This coating dissolves over 12 hours releasing fluoride, calcium and phosphate, the building blocks of teeth. These minerals combine using the natural process of remineralisation to repair the enamel from early decay and strengthen it.

Will BioMin repair a cavity?

If the tooth is cavitated, ie a hole through the enamel into the dentine then only a dentist can repair the tooth. BioMin can help inhibit further decay.

Why does BioMin F use less fluoride?

BioMin uses fluoride more efficiently than regular toothpaste, because BioMin can control its availability.

From what age can I use BioMin?

BioMin is recommended in ages 3 and over. If a dental health professional is happy BioMin is being not swallowed (spat out) then it is safe in younger ages.

What happens if I swallow BioMin

Small quantities of BioMin are safe to swallow. BioMin F contains less fluoride than regular toothpaste as such is intrinsically safer. BioMin C contains no fluoride.

BioMin vs NovaMin

BioMin and NovaMin are in the same class of materials. BioMin is a newer molecule that has fluoride included (BioMin F), a higher level of phosphate (for higher remineralisation) and smaller molecules for better tubule occlusion rates.

BioMin F vs BioMin C

BioMin F and BioMin C active ingredients are from the same family, both are designed to put back the lost apatite (tooth mineral) that is dissolved from tooth surfaces on a daily basis.

BioMin F

BioMin F contains fluoride, calcium and phosphate. As the BioMin starts to dissolve in saliva these three ions combine to optimally precipitate fluorapatite on the tooth’s surface. This fluorapatite is 10X more acid resistant than the tooth’s natural appetite, making the tooth more resilient to decay.

BioMin C

Within BioMin C, a chloride ion (like chloride in salt NaCl, not pool chlorine) replaces the fluoride ion incorporated in BioMin F. BioMin C reacts fast and develops hydroxyapatite (tooth material) within minutes, however, it does not provide the enhanced acid resistance of fluorapatite created by BioMin F.

Can BioMin fix sensitive teeth?

The common cause of sensitive teeth is exposed tubules, BioMin can internally seal these tubules. Effectively stopping the nerve from causing tooth sensitivity / pain.

What causes sensitive teeth?

The four common reasons are:
1. Receding gum lines that expose open tubules which contain nerves.
2. Enamel erosion from decay
3. Exposed tubules from whitening treatments
4. Exposed tubules from aggressive / hard brushing of teeth.

Is GC Tooth Mousse Vegan ?

GC Tooth Mousse contains recaldent which is a protein derived from milk. BioMin F is a vegan alternative to GC Tooth Mousse Plus and BioMin C is a vegan alternative to GC Tooth Mousse.

Which BioMin toothpaste is best for sensitive teeth?

Both BioMin F and C internally help seal the open tubule the common cause of sensitive teeth. BioMin F seals the tooth with a more acid resistant material (because of the slow release fluoride) and will deliver on average superior results.

Does GC Tooth Mousse Contain Dairy?

Yes. GC Tooth Mousse contains recaldent which is a protein derived from milk. BioMin F is a dairy free alternative to GC Tooth Mousse Plus and BioMin C is a diary free alternative to GC Tooth Mousse.

Is there an alternative to GC Tooth Mousse?

Yes. BioMin F is an alternative to GC Tooth Mousse Plus and BioMin C is an alternative to GC Tooth Mousse. BioMin uses a new technology using minerals to deliver bioavailable calcium and phosphate to help repair the enamel from early decay and is a leading solution for sensitive teeth

Is BioMin toothpaste Vegan?

Yes.

Does BioMin Toothpaste have dairy?

No. Unlike other products that use recaldent BioMin uses a mineral process. It is made in a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant that does not process dairy

Is BioMin Toothpaste Gluten Free?

Yes – It is manufactured in pharmaceutical manufacturing that does not process food items.

Is BioMin Toothpaste TGA certified?

Yes, also EU certified as well and the active ingredient has FDA 501 approval FDA.

Does BioMin Work?

BioMin has a number of certifications, including the Australian TGA and the EU. It also is the only toothpaste approved by the prestigious Oral Health Foundation for both remineralisation and sensitivity. It is supported by many clinical papers and hundreds of 5 star reviews. BioMin F is ProductReview.com.au No.1 Dental care product. We cannot guarantee BioMin will work for everybody but there are a lot of very happy customers who only purchase BioMin as their toothpaste.

Are all toothpaste the same?  No, they are not!

Similarities: Are all toothpaste the same? Many supermarket toothpastes have around 1450 ppm of soluble fluoride (active ingredient), an abrasive, a foaming agent, and a cleaning agent. They effectively do the same thing. The average toothpaste is the same. But some are fundamentally different.

BioMin differences: fluoride

BioMin F uniquely uses a bioactive technology that controls the release of fluoride. This allows BioMin to maintain therapeutic levels of fluoride for up to 12 hours compared to around 90 mins for regular toothpaste. Extended fluoride availability has therapeutic benefits.

BioMin difference: remineralisation

BioMin delivers calcium and phosphate to help drive the remineralisation process and help reverse early decay. Normal toothpaste does not have bio-available calcium and phosphate.

BioMin differences: sensitivity

Normal toothpaste does not help with sensitivity. BioMin has clinically proven to reduce sensitivity.

Should you use fluoride or fluoride free toothpaste?

Fluoride delivers several dental benefits the greatest of which is teeth become more resistant to acid.  This means acids (in food and the by-product of bacteria in plaque) should cause less damage to the tooth’s enamel(demineralisation), less cavities should develop. When fluoride is available in the presence of calcium & phosphate – fluorapatite forms which is 1 pH level or 10 times more acid resistant and helping to protect the enamel.

Does fluoride free toothpaste remineralise teeth?

Yes. But the outcome is less acid resistant than when fluoride is available. Optimally you would select a fluoridated toothpaste, BioMin uses fluoride more efficiently than regular toothpaste, requiring 60% less fluoride.

My dentist said I need 1450 ppm of fluoride in toothpaste, why does BioMin use less?

We can’t legally go against your dentist’s advice. We can tell you comparing regular 1450 ppm fluoride toothpaste against BioMin’s 530 ppm is like comparing apples and oranges and your dentist may not be aware of the technology contained in BioMin F. Regular fluoridated toothpaste has a therapeutic window of about 90 minutes. BioMin F has a therapeutic window of up to 12 hours and a significantly higher remineralisation rate. Here is an article that you give to your dentist to read.  Less is more Aust 1Pg

Sensitive teeth and gums

According to the Better Health Victoria site:

Gum disease typically results from plaque accumulating on your teeth and along the gum line. Plaque is a sticky film packed with bacteria. Your immune system responds to this build-up by causing inflammation, which leads to redness and swelling in the gums around the affected teeth.

Everyone has various bacteria in their mouth, and some of these bacteria form plaque as they break down the sugars from the foods and drinks you consume. This plaque creates an ideal environment for bacteria that can lead to gum disease and tooth decay to thrive and multiply.

Seeking treatment early can help preserve teeth that are at risk due to gum disease or other conditions. If you notice swollen or bleeding gums or have loose teeth, it’s important to visit your oral health professional promptly.

Consistent and thorough cleaning of your teeth, gums, and dentures can help prevent gum disease.

Can BioMin help sensitive teeth and gums?

BioMin can help sensitive teeth and gums in 3 ways:

  1. BioMin F blocks the tubules (small holes) in the enamel that are the common cause of sensitivity pain
  2. BioMin F toothpaste has been shown to help stop plaque forming by destroying the bacteria that cause plaque.  : Ref
  3. BioMin F helps reduce acidity, raise  the pH in the mouth. Reduced acidity is beneficial to the gums.

Sensitive teeth as you get older

Sensitive teeth affect up to 40% of adults and are often caused by small openings (tubules) in the teeth, which can be exposed due to aging, gum disease, decay, or whitening treatments. With aging the gum line recedes (notice how older people look like they have bigger teeth), and open tubules become exposed and tooth sensitivity increases.

A common solution for sensitive teeth is using a specialized sensitivity toothpaste. These toothpastes may act as numbing agents, like potassium nitrate, or help block the tubules to prevent nerve stimulation and reduce pain.

With the expertise of Dr. Gillam, BioMin was developed to penetrate the tubules and create a more complete seal for enhanced sensitivity relief. About 50% of BioMin’s particles can enter the exposed tubules and form a durable, acid-resistant fluorapatite seal. In contrast, many regular toothpastes only provide a superficial covering, which can break down when exposed to acids.

Sensitive teeth or a cavity?

Sensitive teeth or toothache?

Tooth sensitivity and toothaches can both be distressing, but it’s important to distinguish between them for effective management. Tooth sensitivity is typically a brief, sharp discomfort triggered by certain stimuli, while a toothache is a persistent, throbbing pain that is often accompanied by swelling.

Are sensitive teeth common?

Tooth sensitivity occurs when small openings (tubules) in the teeth are exposed due to aging, gum disease, whitening treatments, or enamel defects. It’s estimated that up to 40% of adults experience sensitive teeth.

BioMin’s innovative technology enables it to seal these tubules from within using fluoridated tooth minerals, promoting internal enamel remineralization. This process helps prevent nerve stimulation and reduces tooth sensitivity.
